The film was produced and directed by longtime Silver Spring resident Walter J. Gottlieb and his production company, Final Cut Productions… in partnership with Jerry McCoy and the Silver Spring Historical Society and WETA TV 26 (PBS). The documentary debuted on December 8, 2002 on WETA and has enjoyed multiple airings since then. It also was featured during opening festivities for the American Film Institute's Silver Theater in April, 2003.
