The Silver Spring Historical Society (incorporated as Silver Spring Heritage Trust, Inc.) is a Section 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, all-volunteer organization dedicated to preserving the history of Silver Spring, MD (and local history in general) through public education.
The Society’s mission is to engender pride in the Silver Spring community by creating an awareness of its past and by preserving and exhibiting artifacts of that past for future generations. The Society’s membership comprises private citizens from diverse income groups and ethnic backgrounds with a common interest in Silver Spring’s history.
The Society administers an archive of documentary materials (old photographs, artwork, documents, and other memorabilia) from Silver Spring’s 160-year history – an important resource in the production of this film. This documentary is a natural extension of the Society’s mission to further the public’s knowledge – and appreciation – of Silver Spring history.
